The Role Our Federal Government client is seeking an EL1 Senior Communications Adviser to join their team based in Sydney. This is an initial 6-month contract commencing beginning April 2021 with the opportunity to extend for a further 6 months.
The responsibilities and activities of the EL1 Senior Communications Adviser will include: Managing the strategic direction, development, implementation and evaluation of external communications to support organisational objectives. Ideally, you will have strong writing and attention to detail, and be able to write for a variety of channels and audiences. You will also be highly organised and able to manage the production and distribution of communications materials.
With well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, you will demonstrate your experience responding to enquiries, establishing and managing stakeholder relationships. It would also be highly desirable to have experience in translating complex data – or a previous communications role in a technical agency. To be successful, you will need: Strong conceptual and strategic skills – the ability to translate data and analysis into accessible messaging and products Excellent written and verbal communication skills – the ability to deliver clear, concise and compelling messages that are fit for purpose for various audiences.
This includes providing advice and direction to others on a range of communication and engagement products Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills – capability to create and maintain strong, productive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment and deliver high quality results Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to lead others and work productively as a member of a team The ability to work independently on tasks, exercise judgement and understand the impact of the wider environment on their own work, team objectives and other sections Prior experience in leading the development of strategic communications products Desired: Ideally, digital communications experience is desirable, including social media and website management along with previous experience working in a technical agency / demonstrated technical writing ability.
