Transplantation and Immunogenetics Scientist Opportunity to save lives Fixed term full- time until April 2022 Melbourne CBD location About us At Lifeblood, were here for all Australians and although our life-giving role started over 90 years ago with blood, today we support more people in more ways than ever before. About the role: We are currently seeking a fixed term full time Scientist for our Victorian Transplantation & Immunogenetics Service team (VTIS) until April 2022 to provide diagnostic laboratory testing for transplantation matching, identification of genes and antibodies affecting the immune response for tissue typing and investigations into leucocyte-related transfusion reactions. In this role, you will continually look for ways to optimise work processes, actively learning and adapting your approach to achieve great outcomes.

You will act with a sense of urgency, high energy and enthusiasm and be able to relate openly and comfortably with everyone. You will value interpersonal savvy and self-awareness and reflect on your own strengths and areas for development, making you a valued contributor. Accountabilities: HLA matching of transplant recipients and donors as well as provision of immunogenetic services Conduct scientific, technical or specialist testing and procedures Review, analyse and interpret results and make recommendations for next steps Manage the receipt, input and tracking of clinical data Show pride in uploading our high safety and quality standards Share expertise, education and training Skills and capabilities: A minimum education level of Bachelor of Science with a major in Immunology or Genetics (recent graduates accepted) Experience in an HLA laboratory or similar environment Confidence performing a range of technical and analytical processes and be familiar with a range of scientific software packages Professional written and verbal communication with a focus on attention to detail Digital and technical aptitude Benefits: Salary packaging program (allowing you to make the most of your salary) Rewards program offering discounts on movies, groceries, food & beverage, department stores and travel & leisure Discounted health insurance, veterinary care and car hire Internal programs focussed on your wellbeing and safety Salary is determined using the Lifeblood specific Enterprise Agreement.
