Full time (2) years temporary position Located in Grafton Annual Salary starting from $64,973 super Great opportunity to help restore the natural landscape This is an identified position under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). About the Role The Department of Regional NSW is seeking a Field Environmental Officer for the Local Land Services, Soil Conservation team. This role will support a large team and will be responsible for: Delivering a 2-year bush regeneration project on the Clarence River near Grafton.
Maintaining weed control, tree watering, fence maintenance, rural pipework, supplementary tree planting and site monitoring. Undertaking a broad range of work site activities to learn and contribute to the construction of soil and water conservation earthworks This role undertakes a combination of structured training and work activities to gain experience in project management and working within civil works and environmental construction site teams. This is a rewarding field-based physically demanding role, requiring load bearing muscular activity, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling loads, bending, climbing, and driving 4WD vehicles with a variety of trailers.
All work to be in line with SCS policies and procedures with a focus on safety, environment and quality. About You To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will demonstrate: A genuine interest in soil conservation with an ability to work in widely different and challenging work environments Placing high importance on your safety, your workmates safety and the public An ability to undertake challenging field work alone or in a team and to have the initiative to ‘read ahead’ the project tasks each day and act on it Experience in the delivery of bush regeneration projects with a good knowledge of locally occurring native and exotic flora. Experience within the construction, landscaping and or agriculture industry.
