Senior Advisor - Strategic and Aboriginal Outcomes
TreasurySenior Advisor – Grade 9/10 Strategic and Aboriginal Outcomes NSW Treasury is looking for a passionate Senior Advisor to help drive Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander outcomes that support the self-determination of Indigenous communities, efficient management of the State Budget and greater alignment of government priorities, programs and services. The Team and the Role The Strategic and Aboriginal Outcomes (SAO) Branch supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through driving Indigenous outcomes in the State Budget and Treasury’s leadership of Outcome Budgeting . We work collaboratively with agencies, including Aboriginal Affairs NSW, to ensure robust and efficient investment in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations, representative bodies, and for programs and services that deliver improved outcomes for Indigenous peoples in NSW.
We are also a central point of contact for engagement for Indigenous organisations and a resource for broader priority policy projects and community engagement within Treasury. The Senior Advisor – Strategic and Aboriginal Outcomes helps to drive high quality financial and policy performance and reporting, as well as frameworks that support Treasury’s stewardship of the public sector’s financial management and performance. A high degree of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural competency and a strong understanding of Indigenous history, culture and peoples is required for this role and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply. Essential Requirements Extensive knowledge of, and previous experience working on Indigenous-related issues and with Indigenous organisations, representative bodies and communities. Sound knowledge and understanding of public sector financial management, with either policy or finance and accounting experience desirable.
Demonstrated experience in quick, accurate and complex analysis and problem solving (including numerical and/or policy). Strong ability to communicate policy and/or financial analysis clearly and effectively (verbally and in writing). Experience in succeeding in high pressure, dynamic and innovative environments with an ability to create executive level content in.
