Graduates from the Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health (Djirruwang Program) may be appointed as a Counsellor Level 3. There are currently two permanent full-time positions available, one in Moree and one in Inverell, for an experienced and passionate individual to lead the small, multidisciplinary Mental Health teams.
About the position: As the Mental Health Clinical Leader at each site (Moree, Inverell) you will lead the multi-disciplinary clinical service team and provide excellent client care. You will be required to effectively manage the day-to-day functioning of the Mehi Community Team including clinical governance and people management. This position will also provide clinical services to people who experience a severe mental illness and their families, carers and communities.
The successful candidate will oversee and support their team whilst managing their own caseload of clients. You will be supported in this position via clinical supervision, mentorship and a thorough orientation program to ensure your success in this role. About the team: The Mehi Mental Health Service provides consultation, assessment, treatment, and follow-up for young people, adults, and older persons experiencing mental health issues in and around the communities of Moree, Inverell and Narrabri.
The team is comprised of Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Registered Nurses, as well as visiting Psychiatrists. The team assists clients presenting with acute mental health issues by assessing, formulating, and implementing individual management plans, focuses on supporting the families and carers of clients with mental health issues and aims to reduce the rate of relapse and hospitalisation for people with a mental illness. About You: Our successful candidate will have experience leading a small team of multidisciplinary mental health professionals, a strong background in mental health and an understanding of trauma informed care.
