About the Role The Narrative Writer, is responsible for: Writing short, de-identified accounts of the experiences of people with disability that have been shared in submissions, private sessions and community forums.
Contributing to the team’s input including in developing and implementing guidelines, policies and practices that are related to the work of the team, wholly or in part. Contributing to the external output including the Interim and Final Reports. Developing effective relationships to ensure the work of the team is informed by, and responsive to, the objectives.
Responding flexibly to the changing landscape of a task force environment, and undertaking any other relevant tasks as required. The successful applicant will: Have highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate an understanding of a Royal Commission environment and issues relevant to the Royal Commission’s Terms of Reference.
Have a demonstrated ability to work effectively in high pressure environments with changing priorities, high workloads and tight timeframes. Model agility and resilience in responding to high workloads, changing demands and challenging subject matter, and have a demonstrated understanding of the potential impacts of vicarious trauma and being able to respond appropriately. Demonstrate competency in delivering work that is trauma-informed and rights-based.
Demonstrate the ability to quickly develop strong internal and external stakeholder relationships. Capacity to develop leadership capability and strategic thinking skills. Work collaboratively and collegiately with colleagues across the Branch.
Excellent judgment, common sense and discretion.
