APS6 Social Media OfficerDFP Government
Within this Federal Government organisation, The Social Media Officer works within the broader Media and Communications team in a key communications role, responsible for building and engaging with targeted virtual communities and users, especially those that are prioritised by or of particular relevance to the organisation. The Social Media Officer is expected to have good problem-solving skills and an ability to apply expertise under guidance to achieve the outcomes of the team and objectives of the organisation. The Social Media Officer will develop social media content to drive targeted social media communications activities and to support broader communications activities.
The key responsibilities include: build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video) that builds meaningful connections and audience engagement optimise pages within each platform to increase the visibility of the organisation’s work moderate all content in line with the moderation policy monitor social media channels create content calendars and coordinate social media scheduling contribute to continuous improvement through evaluation of campaigns and BAU social media activity using data capture and analysis, including developing appropriate metrics for reporting, insights and knowledge of best practices, and then recommending actions based on the information. Requirements Experience as a social media or a digital media specialist Excellent communication skills, including writing for a range of audiences Demonstrated experience collaborating with internal stakeholders and working within complex environments Demonstrated experience building audiences on social media platforms (both paid and organic) Knowledge of analytics tools and best practice conventions Demonstrated experience in using data, developing metrics and reporting on insights for the purpose of continuous improvement and refinement of strategies and campaigns Detail oriented, with good multitasking and organisational ability Fluency in English – fluency in additional languages will be highly regarded Experience using video and image editing software and/or graphic design tools will also be highly regarded. The successful applicant will have: a solid understanding of how social media channels work and how to optimise content for those channels.
a tertiary qualification, or relevant professional experience, in communications, social media or similar field knowledge and skills in digital communications excellent organisation, time management skills and the ability to prioritise multiple deadlines while being responsive to requests and meeting agreed timeframes the ability to uphold and model the APS Values, Code of Conduct, Employment Principles and Performance Expectations.
