About the Department The St Vincent's Aged Person's Mental Health Service comprises APATT (Aged Psychiatry Assessment and Treatment Team)and RSP (Residential Support Program), inpatient care (Normanby Unit) and two Psychogeriatric Nursing Homes (PGNHs). About the Role This is a new initiative to extend Recreational support to later in the afternoons and also on Saturdays to work with our Aged Mental Health inpatient team at Normanby. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence based therapeutic recreation and leisure programs with the client, their family and the care team to provide an innovative, stimulating, multi-sensory activity program to enhance the psychological and physical well-being of clients of the Aged Mental Health Service.
You will work with team in developing strategies and activities to facilitate Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) staff capability in managing persistent psychiatric symptoms and behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) on discharge from the Aged Mental Health Service. The position is based at St George's Hospital, Cotham Road Kew and will include some late starts and late finishing for afternoon activities and half days Saturdays to provide some weekend support to the ward. Classifications for this position will range from Recreational Therapist Grade 2 YC17 - YC19 ($81,328 - $93,490 per annum pro rata) Qualifications, Skills and Experience A current Driver Licence is essential Bachelor degree or equivalent relevant qualification Previous experience in mental health, aged care, dementia care and residential services is desirable Benefits Salary packaging Employee Assistance Program Staff Car Park Application Please attach your resume and cover letter to your application For further details please contact Mr.
