The Organisation Our client is a fast-paced Commonwealth Agency with a diverse portfolio across Australia. The projects and programs run by this department have priority within federal government, and national high visibility in the media.
The Opportunity This is an opportunity to join a fun-loving and collaborative grants management team. The area deals with science related grants and have approximately 70 different programs running at any given time. Due to COVID-19 there are several program extensions taking place as well as new programs starting out, you will be in the thick of it helping the science community access funding for important research initiatives.
The Role There are several positions currently available within the team and we are looking to engage candidates at either the APS5 or APS6 level. Depending on your experience this may involve some supervisory duties or mentoring junior staff. Initially you'll be required to attend the office as you familiarise yourself with the teams' processes and unique environment at which point there may be some flexibility for remote working.
Your duties will include: Program management and ensuring that grant applications meet eligibility requirements Leading a small team with responsibility for grant selection processes (APS6 only) Identifying and contacting suitable experts Establishing and supporting assessment committee meetings, working on grant guidelines, and responding to applicant queries The Person You have demonstrated experience in grant management, assessment, or administration in the APS. A comprehensive understanding of eligibility requirements coupled with high level analysis and attention to detail is also required. You enjoy a challenge and are always up for having a laugh with your colleagues.
Candidates with secretariat and committee experience will be viewed very favourably as the department engage an assessment committee to undertake the merit assessments for most of their programs, but these committee's need to be supported. You must be an Australian citizen to apply. A current baseline clearance is also mandatory due to the urgency in getting people onboarded.
