LEADING HAND FOR CATTLE AND CROPPING OPERATION, WARIALDA NSW.Drover Ag Recruitment
Seeking passionate agricultural focused leading hand with cropping and cattle experience to join this dynamic family run farming and grazing business. A unique opportunity has become available for a leading hand to support the owner in this highly productive mixed farming operation. The position is a hands-on role and is ideally suited to an all-rounder who likes diversity in their day-to-day work.
The business operates cropping and grazing country in the renowned North West Slopes and Plains region of NSW. Based at Garah and Warialda, this diverse enterprise has both livestock and cropping operations across three properties with the position based at the grazing property located 5km from Warialda. Summer and winter fodder crops are grown to background mainly Angus and Angus Cross steers for nearby feedlots with a carrying capacity of up to 1800 head including a Hereford breeding herd.
The range of irrigated and dryland crops grown include wheat, barley, chickpeas, cotton and sorghum. The operation utilises a range of modern minimum till farming equipment running on Greenstar GPS systems. The main roles and responsibilities include assisting owner in organising and ensuring successful completion of all operational aspects of the farming business.
It will be essential to have Experience in broadacre cropping including operating heavy machinery in a safe and effective manner. Experience working with, and an interest in cattle management ideal. Truck licence and chemical accreditation is desirable, but not essential.
To be successful in this role you should Be honest, reliable, hardworking and trustworthy. Conduct yourself professionally, have good communication skills, be able to liaise with agronomists and contractors as required. Work well within a team environment yet be self-motivated and able to complete tasks unassisted.
Show attention to detail, be someone who takes pride in their work. Be neat and tidy, respectful, and able to represent the business well. A generous salary package will be offered to the successful applicant commensurate with experience and qualifications.
