Sheetmetal Trades Worker
Responsibilities and Duties: Interpreting and reading blueprints, drawings and specifications to define material, equipment and quantity required for the job; Shaping, producing, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment; Setting up and operating machines to cut, bend, shape and straighten sheet metal; Shaping metal over blocks or forms using hammer or other tool required; Operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; Inspecting individual parts, assemblies, and installations for conformance to specifications and building codes, using measuring instruments or any other equipment required; Measuring and mark dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets; Drill holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets; Fastening seams or joints by welding, bolting, riveting, or soldering; Selecting gauges and types of sheet metal or non-metallic material, according to product specifications; Finalizing products by polishing, shaving, smoothing and cleaning assembled materials; Maintaining equipment, making repairs and modifications when necessary Transporting prefabricated parts to construction sites for assembly and installation. Qualifications and Skills Relevant certification in related area; Minimum 2 years work experience Hand-eye coordination Use a wide-range of hand tools and equipment during installation and maintenance Lift heavy sheets onto roofs and move materials around Excellent math skills Strong attention to detail with skills in customer service and communication Salary Pack AUD 60,000.
