My client is looking for an Speech Pathologist to join their dynamic team and to provide a high level of services and support to adults with developmental and/or acquired disabilities. This role is a 12 month fixed term contract, working 3 days per week. The Role The ideal candidate will be a professional and experienced speech pathologist with a passion for providing excellent services to people with disabilities.
Reporting to the Senior Speech Pathologist, some of your duties will include : Working with families, carers, and other stakeholders to support participants to achieve agreed outcomes in accordance with their plan. Comprehensive communication and dysphagia assessment of people with disability. Planning, implementation, and evaluation of intervention for participants in order to maximise independence and quality of life in the areas of swallowing, verbal communication, augmentative and alternative communication, social skills and literacy Prescribe and implement appropriate assistive technology in accordance with National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Delivering induction training to support workers in relation to IDDSI and mealtime management Acting as a consultant through the provision of expert advice and information to residents, service users, families and staff as appropriate Selection Criteria Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and a current practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia Sound knowledge of contemporary approaches to assessment and intervention for mealtime management and communication issues for individuals with developmental and/or acquired disabilities Awareness and understanding of the National Disability Service Standards, and an in depth understanding of the needs and requirements of people with varied disabilities and diverse backgrounds Ability to travel to residential homes within the metropolitan area A full Australian driver's licence, a Working With Children Check, a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check only provided by Cited and a First Aid certificate (including CPR) with at least 6 months validity What's On Offer Working for a well-known, reputable company, who is passionate about both their staff & clients.
