The Role As Operations Supervisor, you will work closely with the Orchard Manager to effectively coordinate and manage our client's almond orchard operations. From planning and growth techniques to leadership, safety and stakeholder management, this is a key role that sees you putting your previous agricultural knowledge and supervisory skills to great use. You will be proactive in the effective planning and implementation of orchard activities.
Focused on promoting optimum production and tree yield, you will be across all aspects of disease and pests for almond orchards and apply best practice techniques to address these issues. The role is responsible for ensuring staff are skilled in irrigation practices, weed management and other agronomic activities to maintain and optimise tree health. Providing clear direction and any necessary training to your team, you seek to uphold the goals of the company while always leading by example.
Occasional travel to Brisbane and within the region is required, along with a commitment to positive relationship management with customers, key stakeholders and members of the community. Your duties will include but not be limited to: Contribute to best practice management plan to achieve maximum crop production and yields Orchard budget management (SAP system) Orchard planning in alignment with management and budgets Accurate maintenance and reporting of farm records Staff rosters and training Maintain, train and drive a culture of safety at all times Occasional travel and visiting of other sites within the region Commitment to positive client relationships Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will have previous experience in farm operations and in supervisory roles. A qualification in horticulture (or similar) is highly regarded but not essential along with proven skills in managing orchards.
You will be able to apply best practice management techniques for the almond orchard including; irrigation, tree health, disease and pest management and preventative maintenance. An effective leader and good communicator, you will ensure you team are trained and skilled in their areas and be committed to a culture of safety for them and yourself at all times. With competent computer skills, financial literacy and relevant knowledge of legal, licensing and safety requirements, it's important you can address the following criteria: Minimum five years' experience in farm operations and supervising teams Proven experience in orchard planning and a proactive approach....
