Modern Maori Quartet

Modern Māori Quartet (MMQ) are a good looking, suave and multi-talented Māori foursome who aspire to be global cultural ambassadors for Aotearoa, representing the revival of a proud heritage of world-class Māori showbands. Accomplished actors/performers James Tito, Maaka Matu Ngaropo, Matariki Whatarau and Francis Kora have come together from different corners of New Zealand to perform their new show “That’s Us!”.

Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Modern Māori Quartet is a contemporary Māori showband in the vein of popular forebears such as the Hi-Marks, Māori Volcanics Showband, Dalvanius and the Fascinations, Maori Troubadours, Maori Hi Five, Quin Tikis and The Howard Morrison Quartet. Modern Māori Quartet’s repertoire includes a wide range of traditional Māori music, which have been given a contemporary treatment, as well as contemporary music that have been imbued with their unique flavour and twist. Their shows promise a trip down memory lane into New Zealand’s musical past and present as well as recent international hits, riddled with song, humour and charm.

So suit ’em up in their number ones, shine their shoes, hand them a guitar or two and they’ll have you melting like golden syrup on a piece of fresh hot fried bread with their signature brand of Māori entertainment.
